“Hike this trail from the Upper Oso Campground to meet the Santa Cruz Trail.”
— John McKinney
To start hiking on the Canyon Trail, follow the trail north from the Upper Oso Campground. You'll quickly pass a gate before beginning to climb into the canyon. From here, you'll be hiking below high canyon walls as you cross over Oso Creek a few times. This section is known as the Oso narrows. After nearly 1 mile of hiking on the Canyon Trail, you'll meet the Santa Cruz Trail
. At this point, the Canyon Trail ends, and you can link up with the Santa Cruz Trail
to extend your hike.
