Family Friendly This trail's moderate grades and manageable length make it great for the whole family.

There is no camping allowed on the parking lot side of the river, but after that, dispersed camping is allowed anywhere 200 feet from the trailhead, trail, and creek.

Description

Starting at the trailhead parking lot, there are trail information boards, an interpretive plaque describing the trail's namesake, and a bridge across the rushing South Saint Vrain. After that, the trail winds through the forest next to the river, occasionally climbing a short ways above the water before eventually returning. The trail proper ends at Forest Service Road 252, where hikers may continue 1 mile west to Miller Rock, a scenic point with a 360-degree view.

Snowshoed the trail as most others did. Saw a few people in boots and spikes too. 3.8mi

Low-key, even trail by the river. Some fun buttes to climb if you make it that far out. 8mi
