Description

This is a steep trail to Grandeur Peak that never really lets up all the way to the top. The trail takes a direct route up the western face of the Wasatch Front. The first mile or so has very little underbrush and no shade to speak of. This portion of the trail has loose gravel and sand over hardpacked dirt below so be sure you wear shoes with decent traction.

Higher up, the trail becomes rockier, sticking to the ridgeline, and showcases yellow and blue wildflowers, a few, scraggly trees and lovely views of the valley, Mount Olympus, and the adjacent canyons. It's an intense climb, but the views up top make it worth it.

Mt. Olympus and Hobb's Peak are gorgeous when viewed from the summit of Grandeur Peak.

Looking down from the ridge into the quarry in Parley's Canyon. Grandview Mountain is in the far distance. Weather is inclement in the valley, drenching the GSL.

Looking East into Millcreek Canyon. If you see that tall balding spot in the back, you are looking at Murdock Peak. That's right! Murdock Peak of PCMR!
