Overview

The 1.7 (one-way) mile Heritage Park Trail follows the Nickajack Creek along to the ruins of Concord Woolen Mill and Ruff's Mill. The trail ends at the Ruff's Mill and the Concord Covered Bridge and has elevated boardwalks over its wetland areas along the way. It provides multiple areas to rest along the creek, with benches and a covered pavilion to have a picnic.

Description

Heritage Park is a 105-acre nature preserve located in Smyrna, Georgia, at the intersection between Fontaine and Nickajack roads. The park has a 1.7-mile (one-way) hiking trail with an elevated boardwalk over wetlands. It travels through forests along Nickajack Creek, passes the ruins of Concord Woolen Mills, and ends at the historic Concord Covered Bridge and Ruff's Mill.

The trail is a soft-surface trail, and doesn't allow bicycles. Parking is provided at either the Concord Road trailhead or at the corner of Fontaine Road and Nickajack Road. From the Concord Road parking lot, there is access to views of Nickajack Creek and the Concord Woolen Mill ruins. Parking, restrooms, and picnic areas are located at the park entrance located at the corner of Fontaine Road and Nickajack Road.

Both sections of the park are connected by the Heritage Park Trail that runs directly from Ruff's Mill all the way past the Concord Woolen Mill Ruins and to the parking lot at the intersection of Nickajack Road and Fontaine Road.
