“A mile long trail that connects from the Smyth Ridge Track to Simla Track.
”
Kauri trees grow along these trails. Please use the gear cleaning stations at the start and end of your hike to prevent the spread of Kauri dieback.
Description
This short track is a great option to create a loop hike with the Smyth Ridge Track, Simla Track, and Long Road Track. Most of the track is easy going, but there is a steep quarter mile descent near the end of the trail where it connects with Simla Track just above the Anawhata Stream. Note that the Chateau Mosquito Track is currently closed for Kauri dieback control.
Flora & Fauna
Lowland podocarp and broadleaf forest interspersed with the magnificent kauri.
