Trail shared by John Shuttlesworth

The openness of this meadow trail is a soothing change from the many wooded trails that pack Oak Point Nature Preserve.

John Shuttlesworth

Features Birding · Fall Colors · Wildflowers · Wildlife

These trails, like all natural paths in Oak Point, are open for foot traffic only.

Description

The trail begins just off the pond loop at a park bench near a stand of old pecan trees. The trail then meanders through the open field as you survey the vista views of the preserve. You continue on until you reconnect with the paved Los Rios Connector. This and all trails in the fields are sometimes difficult to follow in spots, especially during the winter months when the grass can be very short. The trail is a short route that proves to be beautiful if timed with the beginning of the Texas wildflower season.

Flora & Fauna

Plenty of birds can be seen in and around the field, as well as the sometimes elusive snakes that are certain to call this large meadow home.
