The trail begins at the parking lot allowing access to the pavilions, some restrooms, and a playground. Like other trails in the preserve, you travel through both prairie grasslands and forested sections.

Half way through the trail is access to the Tower Trail. The trail features plenty of lovely views and opportunities for great wildlife and bird viewing. You'll travel over a series pedestrian bridges that go over a local creek as well as providing additional access to many unpaved paths. The trail then loops back to your point of origin.

The preserve is teeming with wildlife offering many viewing options especially for local bird life. The preserve is also blanketed in local prairie grasses and wildflowers (during appropriate seasons). A great place to grab the binoculars and guidebook to go enjoy some of the many local bird species. The preserve is also home to all manners of typical forest dwelling creatures, which does include snakes and healthy patches of poison ivy.
