This trail begins at the southeast corner of the Trestle Recreation Area in Cloudcroft. Follow the trail signs for T5002. You'll begin on a doubletrack section above Toboggan Canyon with great views of the basin. Getting into the Ponderosa pines, you'll continue the descent on mixed trail passing old railroad trestles. Eventually, this route will come to an end at the pedestrian bridge that passes over Hwy 82.

Hikers looking for a good loop option can add the Switchback Trail (T5004) to the end of this route to extend the journey.
