Up Only is a steep and direct uphill dash along the fall line from the Hop Connector to the Service Road. While it's equally as steep during the second half, it's possible to start on Rooty for the first half and transition to Up Only where the two intersect at a small flight of wooden stairs.

From there, the trail continues sharply up with some sections of slippery footing. Near the top, there are some trickier steep spots with roots that can be especially difficult in the wet or in the dust of summer. Fortunately, there's the occasional small shelf along the way where hikers can catch their breath.
