A little bit neglected, but overall a beautiful and low-traffic hike.

Description

The trailhead is super small, but there's an outhouse at the south end of the loop, and you can park at the Surprise Trailhead and hike a short distance up the road if it's full. The first part of the trail is very steep in places, and there are several fallen trees across the path.

The trail becomes much less steep about halfway through, and you'll pass through a sloping meadow where the trail has deteriorated.

It should be a great viewing spot for aspens in the fall, and a nice option to get to Eaglesmere Lakes. Watch for hunters in the fall!

There's no water along the trail, so be sure to bring enough or fill up at Eaglesmere Lakes, where there are established campsites and pretty views.
