Overview

This hike simply covers the first portion of the Gore Creek Trail. You can make it as long or short as you like.

Description

From the popular parking on the side of the road, start up the trail and take the right fork in a few hundred yards (the left goes to Deluge Lake). There are a couple steep sections, but you quickly get next to the creek, which is quite beautiful here.

At 1.8 miles in, there are some really nice places on the creek to enjoy a picnic or soak your feet, and it's a good turning point. After that, the trail departs the creek for a while (though the alpine scenery and flowers are better higher).
