“A scenic trail through typical Sonoran Desert terrain that is perfect for a quick getaway”— Hunter R
Family Friendly Kids can easily tackle this trail and will enjoy looking for lizards and other small wildlife along the way.
From the Pima Canyon Parking Area, head south, keeping South Mountain on your right. Just after you leave the parking lot, you'll see the Desert Classic Trail departing from a map kiosk. Stay left as you go by the Marcos De Niza Trail and follow the signs as you continue around the mountain toward the TV towers.
Along the trail, plenty of washes and drainages add variety and fun to the hike, without presenting too much challenge. Keep your eyes peeled for mountain bikers on the trail, as they have been known to love this trail for its relative ease compared to other bikeable trails in South Mountain Park. The west end terminates at the Telegraph Pass Trail.
