Description

While you aren't truly climbing a peak, the Mott Peak Trail does dish up enough of an incline to make you work a little bit for the views at the top. Connecting from the Abrigo Valley Trail to the Briones Crest Trail, Mott Peak starts by winding through the shade of some groves of trees.

At about a half a mile, the junction for the Black Oak Trail cuts back to your right. From here, the trail climbs through open hillsides which afford great views of the area. In the spring, the hillsides are a vibrant green, and you may see cows grazing along the trail year-round.

Once you connect with the Briones Crest Trail, you have the option to head left or right for a variety of loops to extend your hike.
