The trailhead is located about a mile and a half from the entrance to Mueller State Park (entry fee required). The length of trail is 2.9 miles. It does not make a loop so either you have to return via the campground road or hike back the way you came. The doubletrack trail is well marked and begins with a quick descent for the first mile at a fairly steep grade. The second mile is relatively flat with some rolling hills, winding through pine and aspen groves. The last mile is an easy ascent and meets up at the trailhead of Grouse Mountain Overlook #16.
