Family Friendly A very short stroll from the road with stunning views and endangered bird species to keep an eye out for.
This hike heads through a boundary ecosystem between the subalpine shrubland below and the alpine cinder-desert above. This area is home to many endemic plant and insect species and even the rarely seen Hawaiian petrel ('ua'u), an endangered burrowing seabird that nests in the rocky cliffs.
