Description
Start your outing on the Lagoon Valley Trail from where it meets Lagoon Road near the parking area. Enjoy the first bit, as you'll be starting on a flat section before heading toward a small crossing bridge. The terrain after the bridge starts to ascend to the second tower. You'll work your way through a series of switchbacks known locally as the Front Side Climb. Though the switchbacks make the going easier, it is still tiring terrain.
Though the route is a bit strenuous, the trail is mostly packed dirt, and there won't be many obstacles to overcome unless you're on the trail after a rain. Sometimes animals passing through create uneven divots, so watch your footing! During the whole route, you are treated with great views of the Lagoon and Vaca Valley the whole way up. At the top you get a 360 view, of Vaca Valley, Suisun Bay, Mt. Diablo, and Green Valley in Fairfield, a just reward for your climb!
Flora & Fauna
The vegetation consists mostly of tall grass on each side of the trail, which will be green or gold depending on the season. WATCH OUT for bovine meandering on the trail, give them a notice before you approach, they usually move. In the hot summer months, tons of grasshoppers/crickets adorn the trail and hop everywhere as you make your way through the park.
