Description

This trail is a slow starter. From the parking area, you'll move into a treed area that is boggy and buggy in spots. (Bring your bug spray!) While the first 3/4- 1 mile are underwhelming, stick with it. The views toward the end are worth it. There's very little elevation gain/loss for the first mile or so but as you move up a gradual hill, you'll start to see views of the surrounding mountains and finally Newman Lake. When you reach the highest point on the trail, you'll be able to see Mt. Spokane. From here, the trail heads downhill at a somewhat steep grade in spots.

The trail tees into Turtle Rock Trail. Make a left to go on to the shore of the Lake.

Flora & Fauna

Oregon grape, Saskatoon serviceberry, arrow root, deer, bald eagle
