Description
Hemlock is one of four trails that go from a major trail junction - J2, towards the Nova Hut area and several trails that take one further into the trail system.
Leaving junction J2, Hemlock is in the forest but soon with the hillside dropping off relatively steeply on the left/north, great views of the surrounding mountains appear to the left. The trail is relatively flat as it traverses the hillside - enjoy the views! After about a quarter mile, still traversing the hillside, the trail starts to climb gradually, the steepness on the left lessens, and the views are obscured by the tall trees of this beautiful forest.
After a total of about a half mile, Hemlock ends at a junction where it can continue on
Raven Glide or switch to
Shady Way.
During the winter, as part of the Mount Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System, this trail is groomed for classic and skate skiing.
Flora & Fauna
Pretty conifer forest. Deer and moose are in the area.
