Overview

There is a large no trespassing sign at the northern end of the trail. Please respect this.
Features: River/Creek — Wildlife
Description
The
Wapiti Trail leaves the
North Sourdough (#835) at a forest service sign that is easily interpreted. If you are hiking north on Sourdough, take a right at the signage for
Wapiti Trail. Here, you'll heading generally north on the
Wapiti Trail.
The trail winds uphill gradually through the forest and then descends quickly on somewhat loose footing. The trail then ends at a large sign where you can continue on the
Baptiste Trail (#815).
By the way, "Wapiti" is a word used by the Arapaho meaning "white rump"...or Elk. Maybe you'll get lucky and see some out there!
Flora & Fauna
Deep pine forest near treeline. Could be anything out there, bear, mountain lion, deer, fox, coyote, etc.
