“The shortest distance between the Halemau'u Trail and the Sliding Sands Trail.”— Megan W
Connector C begins around mile 6.7 of the Halemau'u Trail and snakes between a handful of cinder cones before reaching a junction with Connector D. Connector C continues south, hits Connector E and ascends slightly before terminating at approximately mile 5.8 of the Sliding Sands Trail. Connector C is the shortest and most direct of all the crater floor connecting trails linking Halemau'u Trail to the Sliding Sands Trail.
Heed the warnings and be prepared for cold and unpredictable weather. Also, be aware that the high altitude will cause dehydration and fatigue much faster than at sea-level. As of this writing, no food is available for purchase inside the park, so bring your own.
