In the summer months there tend to be a lot of bugs because you are fairly close to the water.

Description

This section starts with a downhill jaunt and has slightly rugged bits along the way. There are really only two spots - about a mile and a half into this section and just before lower Frary after crossing the road and ascending the small hill.

Most of this trail is sandy singletrack and has some rollers, just not much elevation here. The ranch has bathrooms and is a great fueling point. You could continue beyond the ranch to the south if you need more miles. The return trip is the same stuff but you are headed back and just keep a steady pace. All of this trail is obvious and not much room for ambiguity, just stay on "track." You might want to get a picture of the mountains to the east.

Flora & Fauna

There is prairie grass and light vegetation, always stay on trail, except to maybe get around a buffalo. There are buffalo on the island and usually antelope, however they are usually skittish of humans. When you get to Garr Ranch, there are ofttimes deer there as well.

One of the many buffalo on the East Side Trail of Antelope Island. I really didn't like getting this close!
