The pass is snowbound until July and trees are usually cut out by mid-July.
Description
From its inception at a junction with North Fork Lime Creek Trail, this trail climbs gently and stays next to the creek as you climb. There are a couple of short lung busters thrown in to keep you on your toes. The first lung buster is in the middle and is fairly short. It will be a tough hike for some and a grunt for others. After this, the trail returns to a gradual climb.
There is one last steep section in store at the very end of the trail to get you up onto a ridge.
This is a great trail to traverse across the Smoky Mountains.
