Sunny Gulch Trail starts across from the Sunny Gulch Campground. The first part of this trail from the Campground to the Junction with Little Casino sees very little traffic and is a steep climb. Past the Little Casino junction, the trail is well used and gives some great access to other trails in the area.

Sunny Gulch climbs from the Rough Creek Trail junction to the pass with Boundary Creek and then becomes much steeper as you head towards the peak. Once atop the high point of the trail you'll take in views of many alpine lakes.

From the top of the trail you descend steeply to the junction with Big Casino Trail and then continues on to Garland Creek and another set of lakes. The trail can taken in either direction to make a number of loops. The biggest challenge is going to be near the high point of the trail.
