If traveling from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead, this trail descends for the vast majority of its overall distance. Start with a quick climb before gradually descending into Prospect Canyon. Along the way, be on the lookout for numerous waterfalls that may or may not be flowing depending on the time of year.

Traveling northeastward, the first junction encountered will be with the Boulder Brook Trail. Shortly thereafter, Storm Pass Trail will enter from the south (right). Finally, the Emerald Mountain Trail will also branch off to the right and climb steeply up the southern flank of Emerald Mountain.

RMNP is a massive park that is mostly characterized by a montane ecosystem. Here are some of the Flora and Fauna that you may encounter along this trail:

Flora: Ponderosa pine, douglas fir, wildflowers, shrubs
Fauna: Elk, mule deer, moose, bighorn sheep, coyotes, black bears, cougars, butterflies.
