I found out about the spines on these the hard way - not too painful but took weeks to get them all out of my leg after a brush past.
Shady shelters exist along the Discovery Trail.

Shady shelters exist along the Discovery Trail.
Surrounded by Saguaros, Sus Picnic area is a great place to relax and have lunch in the Sonoran Desert.
The wash shaped the landscape, providing homes for animals and better conditions for plants growing in the area.
The trail as it makes its way through the wash.
Views of Saguaro cacti and the surrounding hills are all around you.
The Javelina Wash Trail goes around the back of the visitor center and provides information regarding life in the desert.
