Description

It's the the highest elevation between the Rocky Mountains in the western United States and the Pyrenees Mountains in France. From the top you can see South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska and North Dakota.

Short Hike: There are many different trails that can get you there, but the most common is Trail No. 9, which begins by Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park.

Started at the Cathedral Spire parking lot, hike to the end of the Cathedral Spire trail, went into the forest and found the black elk peak trail.
