Silver Star Mountain [Suggest Edits]

Description

The summit of Silver Star is one of the most popular destinations in southwest Washington. On a clear day, you'll enjoy a 360-degree view that includes Mounts Adams, St. Helens, Hood, Jefferson, and Rainier, as well as nearby Sturgeon Rock. On particularly clear days, you may even see peaks (like the distinctive double-hump of Saddle Mountain) in the Oregon Coast Range.

Half-Day Hike: The shortest access to the summit is via the Grouse Vista Trail #180F, a short piece of the Silver Star Trail #180, and the Silver Star Summit Trail #180D—6 miles round trip. A Washington State Discover Pass ($10/day or $30 annually) is required to park at this trailhead. These passes are NOT available at the trailhead. Purchase a pass locally or by phone at 866-320-9933 (then display the permit number on your car's dash for the ranger to verify it until your pass comes in the mail). They do check for passes and do issue tickets to those without them.
