Description

Located at the intersection of Woody Ridge Trail and Mount Mitchell - Black Mountain Crest Trail #179 is this amazing bald. The bald offers great views of the surrounding mountains and is an epic place to camp if you are planning on an overnight outing.

Half-Day Hike: Access from Woody Ridge is a 3,100 ft. climb in about 2.4 miles. Access from Bowlens Creek is a 3,200 ft. climb in 4.5 miles. It ain't easy to get to, but it is worth it!

There is a small spring about a quarter mile down (west) from the crest trail at deep gap. You will see an old road bed, follow it till it turns right and you will find the spring. Jul 8, 2017

Muddy, Icy - I did this trailer on 2nd February. Trail gets very icy after 4 miles. would not recommend if you don't have proper gear(crampons ice axe). watch your feet while coming down the trail as the trail is Muddy in a few places because of all the rain. it is very easy to lose 40 and slip and trip and fall while coming down Trail.
