Junction Ruins [Suggest Edits]
Description
After initial occupation by the Basketweavers, the Anasazi built these structures between 1000 and 1250 AD. There are 28 structures on three levels. The third level (which is inaccessible) is impressively defended - imagine scaling that wall without a long ladder!
There are many pictographs and petroglyphs, including impressive hand print. Additionally, grinding stones and pottery shards are everywhere, and it is fascinating to imagine them in use.
Half-Day Hike: Hike 4 miles along the Kane Gulch Trail.
Family Friendly: Though it's a long hike in, the ruins are fun to explore and the canyon is filled with fun rocks to explore.
Gem Type: Historic Site
