Artist's Palette [Suggest Edits]

Description

The Artist's Pallette is just one of many highlights to be found along the paved Artist's Drive. As you pass through various layers of compacted sediment, you'll get the impression that this area was first concieved by a painter. The colors of the various sediments are astounding, hinting at the varied mineral make up of the soil. This geologically complex area is comprised of both sedimentary and volcanic sediments, evidence of Death Valley's explosive past.

While pastel colors of varying shades can be seen all along the one-way drive, at Artist's Pallette, the incredible color of the sediment really pops. Especially if you're visiting at sunset, the pastel pinks, purples, yellows, and greens put on a jaw dropping display. Visitors who are just passing through the park will not want to miss this roadside attraction.

On the Road: Located just off of Artist's Drive, this area is incredibly easy to access, and much of the area can be viewed from a vehicle.

Family Friendly: As one of the most inspiring locations in the park, young artists will enjoy trying their hand at recreating the spectacular color displays here.
