Description

This trail offers amazing views of the Smokies. You can see the TN and North Carolina sides of the Smokies as the mountains stretch out before you. In the summer, the fields offer great areas to explore and have lunch. Wildlife may be seen in the late summer as various berries ripen. It's a great place to relax before you continue your hike if you are on the Appalachian Trail or hiking any one of the trails that run through this point.

All-Day Hike: There are several trails leading from the Laurel Creek Road on the way to Cades Cove:

Bote Mountain Trail to the Appalachian Trail
Finley Cane Trail to Bote Mountain Trail to Appalachian Trail
Lead Cove Trail to Bote Mountain Trail to Appalachian Trail

From Cades Cove:
Anthony Creek Trail to Bote Mountain Trail to Appalachian Trail
Russell Field Trail to Appalachian Trail until it reaches Spence Field

Some Mud, Fallen Trees - Some of Goshen Prong was quite overgrown. Leaves fallen on the sections of Miry Ridge made it difficult to see the trail.
