This is where there begins several spiderwebs of trails, this one specifically goes back over to the community building... but there's a worn path there.

This section looks like it was recently groomed and there were lots of cut branches stacked and blocking the view of the lake.  Hopefully those will be removed soon.

The trail surface through here gets kinda sandy again, but is pretty well packed.

So the trail is flooded and you have to go around...several of the satellite photos seems to show this as dry, so maybe it is passable in the summer.  Your mileage may vary.

It was about here where we started running into water snakes.  I doubt they were poisonous, they just gave us the heebie jeebies when they'd slither off into the water really quickly

This section of trail was extremely soggy and it hadn't rained in a week or more.

There were probably 15 people fishing the lake today, a 50 degree day in March.  Must be good fishing!

The parks department told me these are wild blackberry briars! I can't wait to check these out in the summer time!

One of the less sandy areas on the trail; the surfaces vary between this and sandy, so wear proper hiking boots.

This is a transition area from woods into a huge briar thicket!  Very interesting habitat that protects small animals.  I'm working to identify the briar species.

There's a mix of trail surfaces that are sandy and then loamy.

The entrance to the hike is pretty sandy over the first two hills (dunes?), but there is more dirt trails after that.
