Need to Know

The bridge over Village Creek has been removed; the creek crossing may be difficult.

Description

This trail starts by traveling over the dam to a cluster of kiosks, detailing the history of the Trail of Tears. It climbs a set of stairs, leading away from the lake, and ascends the ridge. It travels through a deep-cut canyon, following the old road. Here, you'll pass by the lower loop (on the left). The blue blazes continue down the road, but lead you to a broken bridge. The creek crossing may be difficult or unsafe after heavy rains. This section is poorly maintained and lacks proper signage for the broken bridge.
