- It is recommended to use the East Cutover Trail if there is flooding on the east side of the Grand Prairie Loop Trail.
- Horses are allowed on trail with equestrian trailer parking on west side of parking lot.

Starting at the parking lot, the wide crushed limestone screenings trail with no shade takes you around a very large grass prairie and farm field with several interpretive signs describing the prairie and history of the area.

As you hike west and stop at the interpretive sign you are on higher ground and have a nice view of the prairie. As you continue on to the south you'll see Muirhead farmhouse designed by Frank Lloyd Wright which has tours, see website https://muirheadfarmhouse.com.

As you continue to the east and reach the East Cutover Trail you'll leave the prairie and travel through a farm field. In the farm field there might some flooding because this is a natural beneficial flood plain as described in the interpretive sign east of the parking lot.

It is recommended to go counterclockwise, because if you want to cut your hike short you can take the East Cutover Trail back the parking lot.
