Overview

Circumvent the entire Natural Area by combining the North and South Loop Trail. Lots of climbing!

Description

From the Firetower Road Trailhead near Route 31, take the McKenna Trail for about 3 miles until you hit the North Loop Trail (stay right). The North Loop Trail is not traveled very often and there are a few intersections with old jeep roads where you can get turned around. BIG climb back to the ridge on the Painter Rock Trail. Super steep descent down to Roaring Run and ANOTHER climb up the South Loop Trail. You'll circumvent the valley a bit as you make your way back towards Firetower Road. Hillside Trail will throw another small climb at you before you cruise back down McKenna Trail to your car.
