Need to Know
You can park at the turn off to Doran Scenic Drive and follow the trail up a bit till it forks to the right. The closest restroom and water are pay-to-access Calico Ghost Town about a mile down the road.
Description
This trail goes through the easier Odessa Canyon; following a well used OHV trail up. The trail undulates several times as you go up and over several draws and canyon walls. The view at the top of Calico Peak is worth every drop of sweat to get to the top. The final portion of the trail has no turn offs and "dead-ends" at Calico Peak. However on the way back down there are several intersections to make the trail more interesting than a complete out and back.
Flora & Fauna
Turkey Vultures, and other Mojave Desert animals. Not much fauna to mention in the canyons.
