While not obvious on the map, most trail users will combine Rock Oak Trail into a lollipop type route with Deep Root Trail and Criss Trail, using the aforementioned Degroat Road to connect all three. Bear in mind Degroat Road is a road in name only—it is really a very wide dirt trail.

Rock Oak Trail itself is easy, beginning very wide on an old road before narrowing. There is also one minor ascent at the 0.75 mile mark.
