“Trail climbs over 800 meters through three biogeoclimatic zones. Gazebo and fantastic views at top.
”
Parking lot accessed from Stones Bay Road. No bathroom facilities, so find somewhere in town before heading up the trail.
Description
Trail starts in a mixed Douglas fir forest with fairly steep climbs for the first couple of kilometers. Gradually transitions to a mixed pine/spruce forest where it's easier going. Several benches and viewpoints along the way to rest and enjoy the scenery. Trail is well maintained and has good drainage, so quite dry most of the time. The top just breaks out above treeline on a rocky knob - a gazebo stands where a fire lookout used to be.
