Description

Connecting the Stanly County communities of Misenheimer and Richfield, The Falcon Trail offers lake and agricultural views, as well as access to Pfeiffer College and many historic buildings listed on the Natural Historic Register. There are two trail entrances, one at Richfield Park and one at the intersection of US 52 and Wesley Chapel Road in Misenheimer. Richfield Park has picnic tables and other amenities (fishing and disc golf).

Beginning at the Richfield Park trailhead, signs mark the entrance to The Falcon Trail on the southern side of the lake. The trail is wooded and winds around Curl Tail Creek and then back towards the Richfield Park property for approximately 0.6 miles. Then, the trail crosses Richfield Lake through either a narrow covered bridge or a swinging bridge. The bridges are both adjacent to each other. The swinging bridge leads to an island with a picnic table.

The trail then goes back into a wooded area for approximately 0.15 miles before winding around a field. This portion of the trail offers great views of the surrounding agricultural land. After the field, the trail turns right to follow next to Culp Road for 0.3 miles. The trail crosses Culp Road at Curl Tail Creek and then follows alongside it until reaching the Pfeiffer campus near the gym. The trail follows a brief sidewalk and then enters a wooded area again near Curl Tail Creek and behind Pfeiffer's campus. The trail ends when it comes to Wesley Chapel Road.

Parking is available at the Richfield Trailhead at Richfield Park (Richfield Park Rd, Richfield, NC 28137) and at the Misenheimer entrance at the USPS (48380 US-52, Misenheimer, NC 28109).
