Description

It almost a 4.6 mile roundtrip hike. Terrain is rocky and steep with some muddy patches. Be sure to carry bug spray. Suggest to start early since parking is limited and it attracts quite a few hikers.

Top of the mountain is very windy. Have a jacket or something for layering at the top. View from the top is great and definitely worth the difficult hike. As a hike, it can be completed within 4 - 5 hours with reasonable breaks and some time at the summit.

Hikers can also go to Porter Mountain Trail on nearing the summit. There is a path which takes to porter mountain (0.7 miles).

Road paving limits parking. Trail is muddy but in good shape. Winds at the top were crazy, so the first viewpoint is a good place to stop for a break! 2.4mi — 1h 45m

most of the trail is straight scrambles all the way up but the view at the end is worth it. the scrambles make the trail a lot slower than a normal… 4.4mi — 4h 00m

Lots of rocks on the first half of the train in particular. Snow on the second half / higher elevation, which made for a more careful descent

Going down is much harder! The muscles & joints just aren't used to it. Some mud and slippery spots. Saw 3 hiking groups but it wasn't crowded. 1.9mi — 2h 12m
