“This old road winds through the dense woods of Mark Twain National Forest.
”
Trail #912 begins off the Glade Top Trail National Scenic Byway. This trail used to be a county road, but it is now closed to motor vehicle traffic. Parking is possible for 3-4 vehicles in an unofficial campsite with a fire ring. The trail continues through thick forest along the top of Clayton Ridge. Consider the Clayton Ridge Trail if you want to extend your hike in the Bateman Trails. Otherwise, follow #912 down off the ridgeline into Montgomery Hollow. Be prepared for a relatively steep climb out back towards the Glade Top Trail. The scenery provides decent views during fall/winter.
