Features Waterfall

DuPont State Recreational Forest is a very popular multiuse, bi-directional trail system, so be on the lookout for hikers, horses, and bikers. It is normally open in any weather although it can close in extended periods of freeze / thaw during the winter.

Description

Wintergreen Falls begins off of Tarkiln Branch Road and is mostly flat doubletrack until the intersection with Sandy where the trail climbs steeply up to a viewing area of the Wintergreen Falls of Grassy Creek. This is a good spot to take a mid-hike break and cool off in the pools below the falls.

Flora & Fauna

Rhododendrons, mountain laurels, pines, maples, oaks, ferns. Many species of birds.

Fantastic hike, wide and well maintained trail. Definitely plan to make a trip back in warmer months to hangout at the waterfall. 3.4mi
