From Jalama Beach County Park, hike down the coast along the sandy beach. 1/2 of a mile after beginning, you'll leave the county park boundary and the sandy beach becomes far rockier and more narrow. Along this section of coast you may see the Southern Pacific railroad trains passing by on the bluffs above. You should feel lucky since there are no public roads in the area so only you and those on the train are able to experience this section of coastline.

Once you've completed roughly half of the trail, the coastline stops bending, and the beach nearly becomes a straight-shot southward toward Point Conception and the Coast Guard Reservation that resides there. You'll be able to follow the beach until you're about 1/2 of a mile from the lighthouse on Point Conception; at this point, there isn't enough beach space to continue along, and the De Anza Trail comes to its end.
