Starting at the outlet to the Lower Palisades Lake Trail, this trail is more difficult and continues until you reach the upper lake. Chicken Springs is a great place to get fresh water and is between the lower and upper lakes; it is marked on most maps. Don't miss the turn out of the Palisades Creek Canyon to the right (east) that goes across the creek over a large metal bridge. The switchbacks just below the upper lake can be taxing just after you cross the bridge.

The Upper Lake is over a mile long and a fantastic sight. It is well worth the trip. If you haven't had enough of this SE Idaho hot spot, you can continue up into Waterfall Canyon.
