Description

From the day parking lot at the campground, head up a fairly steep hill for half a mile. This is a tough start, but it's by far the hardest section of the loop, so don't get demoralized right off the bat.

The pines morph to aspen groves, which give way to large meadows filled with flowers in late June through August. The La Sal Mountains are right in your face and are quite impressive.

Eventually, Clark Lake appears below to the right. Most people will take the right turn to do the Featured Hike Clark Lake Tour, but this trail continues for another mile and a half through more aspen forests before ending at Geyser Pass Rd, which is also accessible by car.
