Description

The trail is a loop and hikers can head out on this trail in either direction from the trailhead off of Paige Bar Road. The Mt. Shasta Mine Trail is a rocky singletrack with a few short, hard climbs. There are several small creek crossings to navigate along the way. The dirt is mostly decomposed granite, but there are lots of rocks throughout this trail. You can connect to the Clear Creek Canal Trail for additional mileage.

Along the way, hikers will enjoy forest of live oaks and knobcone pines. White leaf manzanita, blue blossom ceanothus, and poison oak comprise much the brush growing alongside the trail. In the spring (late March) keep an eye out for the lovely wildflowers that bloom along the trail. HikerS will also pass by the Whiskeytown Cemetery, the Mt. Shasta Mine, and the Monitor Mine, reminding visitors of the history of the area.

Flora & Fauna

Okay trail. Decent view of the lake. Rocky. Small watering hole. Shasta mine is basically a hole in the ground with some debris thrown over it. 3.1mi
