It's mostly private land along the road, and there is no camping or fishing, so stick to the trail.

Description

Caves Fork Road passes by the first oil well drilled in the Big Sinking area. There are multiple creek crossings, and a stout climb to exit the valley out to KY 11.

From Fixer Road you immediately cross a ford that can sometimes be deep with a swift current. This is the worst crossing on the road as you are crossing Big Sinking Creek. After the initial crossing all of the other crossings are of the smaller Caves Fork Branch. Use caution, especially in the spring, when the water can be high.

Hike up the valley past a large (private) lake on the left and begin the long climb out. You can loop south along KY 11 to KY 498 to get back to the Flat Hollow/Bald Rock area, or north on KY 11 to get to the Standing Rock/Hollerwood area.
