This scenic trail begins at the Primrose Campground on the southern end of Kenai Lake and climbs ~1,700 ft to Lost Lake at the base of Mt. Ascension. At this point, the Primrose Trail connects to the USFS Lost Lake Summer Trail which descends to the Bear Creek Trailhead while providing views (on a clear day) of Seward and Resurrection Bay.

This trail is most commonly used to hike from Primrose to Bear Creek with a car shuttle.
