Description

Starting at the Davidson Canyon-Gabe Zimmerman trailhead, the trail descends into Davidson Canyon, linking with Cienega Creek as it heads under the train tracks and up the far side of the canyon. From the top of the canyon, the trail turns quickly to the southwest onto a two-track, which then crosses E Marsh Station Road and the train tracks, again.

Staying along the rim of the canyon, the trail heads west and then turns north across a number of drainages. After crossing a pipeline road and continuing below some powerlines, it climbs up to a saddle and a view of La Posta Quemada ranch and the south end of Colossal Cave Mountain Park.

From here, the trail switchbacks down and heads around the ranch to the east. The trail then enters the park and runs through Posta Quemada Canyon, past the campground and up to a park road. After crossing the road, it parallels it and then comes to the La Selvilla picnic area.

From the picnic area, the trail heads northwest, crossing Pistol Hill Road and then X-9 Ranch Road, before continuing up through the Rincon Valley. After entering through a gate, the trail crosses Rincon Creek and then reaches a kiosk at the southern boundary of Saguaro National Park. The final stretch of this passage heads over to a gate and then continues north to Hope Camp.
