Need to Know

The first half of the trail was burned by the 2018 Crescent Mountain Fire and you'll be hiking through a forest of charred trees.

Description

Leaving the Twisp River Trail, you immediately settle into a moderately uphill ascent with long switchbacks. Nature has started reclaiming the area after the 2018 Crescent Mountain Fire and you'll see plenty of lush green bushes covering the slope between charred trees. The long switchbacks eventually turn into shorter switchbacks until the trail starts paralleling Scatter Creek. You leave the burned area and make your way across several green meadows. The trail turns west leaving the denser forest and heads towards another steep slope. At the top, the trail levels out, and leads you to Scatter Lake, surrounded by several premier campsites.
